### Which product is this about?

Toggl 2.0

### Topic content

A little bit of warning would have been great before removing features from one version of your app to another. I’ve been using the CSV export for years as the perfect tool to bill my clients for the time spent on their projects.
Suddenly I can’t use it anymore for all the data in the past, and I’m stuck with a pdf version that I have no use for and didn’t ask for.
I understand the will for change and go to a subscription based service for everyone to make money, but the transition could have been smoother.

Solved, thank you for your responsiveness!

what do you mean solved? Is it available on the free plan for you now? I used to have csv export in the free toggl but in toggl 2.0 that is a paid feature.

I haven’t gone back for a while now but yes after my rant, I suddenly had the csv export available on my free plan.

I understand their logic of evolving from a free feature to a paid one to get more people subscribing but I was quite shocked because I’ve been using their tool for years now and not having the possibility to export as a csv right when I needed to invoice the previous quarter was a big issue!

As a result, it reminded me that you can’t really rely on third party for major stuff and I’ve now switched to a home-made tailored timer that will stay free for me forever.

I hope that they can switch the csv on for you (at least for a period!)

Who or where did you contact them to get that feature enabled? Did you build that new timer using a vice-coding tool? Any recommendations?

I didn’t contact anyone, I think they did it following my rant (which means that they’re reading our posts on the community board!)

yes I built the timer with a bit of vibe coding as part of a set of tools that I’ve designed for my work, also including client management and invoices reminders etc. Maybe I’ll do a public release one day but it’s far from being ready to do that. I don’t know of any other timer because I used only Toggl over the last 10-15? years

I’d love this too. I used the detailed weekly reports so I can show clients the number of hours per day. can no longer see this OR download as a csv to move to my billing pivot. I was thinking of moving my Toggl 2.0 data back to Track but can’t see how to do this either!

The big issue for me is that they still list the CSV export as included in the free plan on the pricing page. So they pushed the upgrade to toggl2 with the idea that csv export is still included in the free plan and now it’s not anymore.
Kind of shady if you ask me 🙂

Ah yes, that’s not ok! I would try to contact them directly. Maybe it’s a (convenient) bug.
