Feature Request: Official Toggl Track MCP Server

Hi Toggl team,

I’d love to see Toggl offer an official MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for Toggl Track.

MCP is an open standard (created by Anthropic) that lets AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and others interact directly with external tools. It’s quickly becoming the standard way AI apps connect to services — think of it as what REST APIs did for web apps, but for AI agents.

Right now, the only options for connecting Toggl to AI assistants via MCP are:

- Pipedream’s hosted server, which only exposes a handful of Toggl actions (can’t even start/stop timers or list projects)
- Several community-built servers on GitHub, which work well locally but aren’t hosted, so they don’t work with web-based AI clients like claude.ai or ChatGPT

An official Toggl MCP server — ideally hosted as a remote server with OAuth or API key — would let users manage timers, view projects, pull reports, and track time directly from any MCP-compatible AI client. The API coverage is already there in Toggl’s v9 API; it just needs an MCP wrapper.

Companies like Slack, GitHub, Atlassian, Linear, and Sentry already offer official MCP servers. For a productivity tool like Toggl, where the whole point is reducing friction around time tracking, this feels like a natural fit.

Would be happy to share more details on what the community has built so far if it helps inform the effort.

Thanks!

+1 on this.

I’m a Claude.ai user and already have Todoist connected via their official MCP server — it works seamlessly as a remote connector. I’d love the same experience with Toggl Track.

**My use case:** I have years of time entries across personal and work projects in Toggl. Being able to pull that data directly into Claude to run custom analyses — weekly breakdowns, trends, time allocation by project — without exporting CSVs or writing scripts would be a huge productivity win.

As Warren mentioned, the v9 API already covers everything — an official hosted MCP endpoint would make Toggl accessible from any MCP-compatible client without needing to self-host anything.

Would definitely use this on day one.

I have setup a Claude skill that uses the API and auth and I am able to do everything I want (start/stop timers, adjust time entries, rename them etc.) it is just slow, but it is great that I can just type into Claude code terminal: Start timer for JIRA-123 Implementing security and it stops the previous timer and starts a new one. Timesheets are now a doddle for me, I used to be very stressed about them. Toggl Track + LLM’s especially Claude/Claude Code are fantastic!

Hey @Support Team,
Does your roadmap include MCP? It would be great improvement to day-to-day work to connect with Toggle through Agentic AI.

Best, Dawid

Hi mates, quite recently I have done some revamp on an existing mcp that was created some 8 months ago, specifically I have added (Claude, really 😁):

- A few more tools: such as tag, client & task management
- Rate limit handling with actions to cache workspaces so they won’t consume `me` credits (see Limitations in the readme)
- A full test suite tested against toggl servers to ensure robustness.

You can find it here: [GitHub - nablabits/toggl-mcp-server: MCP Server for Toggl · GitHub](https://github.com/nablabits/toggl-mcp-server)

I have plans in the future to add the reports API as `get_time_entries` only works on a narrow time frame and consumes precious `me` credits, but let’s see.

I’m working on the assumption that Toggl will release their own official mcp at some point, so the future of this lib I created is very much doomed but we can enjoy it all the same while the moment arrives, so feel free to download it, inspect it yourselves (don’t take my word for it) and use to what you please.

I hope you find it useful.

Hi Warren - I tried connecting the API with Claude by generating a key, but Claude indicated it needs a “32-character hex string (no prefix like `toggl_sk_`)” - the one with the toggl\_sk prefix is the one that is generated. Are you able to share quick tips?

+1000000 for this. I’m DYING to be able to have Claude analyze my app/browser activity so I can mine insights on where I’m spending my time and how to better optimize/delegate. Please release this.

They only focus on Toggl 2.0. I am a bit frustrated and believe there will be no updates of Toggl Track…

Toggl team: Please proof me wrong…
