Google Calendar Integration & Planned Time

Which product is this about?

Toggl 2.0

Topic content

We are really excited about the new workload planning aspect withn Toggl 2.0. As active Google Suite users, the integration with GCal is a great feature across Toggl.

However, with 2.0, the integration needs some tweaking, as it overestimates planned time for Google Calendar events.

THE ISSUE
All entries in the calendar are read as events (Events, Tasks, Focus Time, Out of Office)
All entries are assigned Planned time within Toggl 2.0.
Planned time cannot be removed or deleted for Google Calendar events.
If you log time for an event, without logging it from the calendar view, there is no way to cancel the “Planned” time that remains from the integration.

SUGGESTION
Make Google Calendar entries visible in Toggl 2.0, but don’t assume all entries need to be given Planned time. Or, if Planned Time is assigned as the default, provide an option to delete/update it or create alternative settings for how entries are managed (e.g. through the Rules feature).

Completely agree. This is the most annoying feature of Toggl 2.0.

I use 1 Outlook calendar for both business and personal use across laptop and mobile. Surely it should be possible to exclude imported entries from Toggle?

This seems so basic and has been driving mad since I switched over.

+1 on this.

As outlook only allows one calendar to count towards availability, I have to plot my reserved focus time as well as other reserved timeslots into my main calendar. As they are not “actual” tasks but only reservations I really dont want them in my planned time.

A simple feature that would allow me to exclude calendar items with a given pattern in the title would completely remove the issue.
