Introducing Toggl 2.0

For the past few months, we’ve been building what we called Toggl Focus. Today it becomes Toggl 2.0 — new name, refreshed but familiar visual identity, and a clearer statement of what’s ahead.

Why the rename

We built it under the Toggl Focus name, and now it’s time to say it out loud: this is where Toggl is going.

Toggl 2.0 isn’t a sibling product to Track. It’s the direction — the roadmap, the investment, the brand, all centered here. And it’s the start of something bigger we’re calling time intelligence: a Toggl that doesn’t stop at recording your hours, but helps you understand what to do with them.

Why now?

Because the questions you ask have changed. “How much time did this take?” used to be the key question. Now it’s the starting point. The ones that matter:

  • Do we have the capacity to take this on?
  • Are we making money on the work we already said yes to?
  • What’s the right resourcing decision for next quarter?

Toggl Track was built for the first question. Toggl 2.0 is built to start answering the rest. The same obsession that built the world’s most trusted time tracker now starts turning that data into clearer decisions — about profitability, capacity, and what to take on next.

There’s a lot more to build, and we’ll build it in the open.

What this means for you

If you’ve been using Toggl Track: Track isn’t going anywhere. We’ll keep supporting and improving it. Toggl 2.0 is what we’re building on top of that foundation, for when the question shifts from “where did our time go?” to “what should we do next?” When you want to move, the path will be there — your data and workflows come with you. No forced migrations. Contact us when you’re ready.

If you’ve been using Toggl Focus: Nothing changes day-to-day. Same workflows, same data. What changes is the visual identity and the story. You’ve been part of what’s becoming the future of Toggl.

If you’re new to Toggl: Welcome on board. This is the time tracker millions trust, now becoming something more: a tool that tells you what your time is actually worth — which projects are profitable, who has capacity, what to take on next. We’re at the beginning of building toward time intelligence, and we’d love you along for it.

Quick answers

Is Toggl Track going away? No. It continues to be developed and supported. You move on your timeline.

What was Toggl Focus, then? The working name while we built this. The product is Toggl 2.0.

What’s “time intelligence”? The direction we’re heading: making your time data answer harder questions — capacity, profitability, what to take on next — rather than just record what happened. Some of that is in 2.0 today. More is on the roadmap. We’ll share specifics as they ship.

If you have questions, or want to think out loud about what 2.0 means for the way you work, reply below. We’re reading.

So when is it possible to use Toggl 2.0? Everytime i check it out something is missing that im used to in Track.

Just tried to go to the Report tab and tried if i could get a report of billable hours. But it seams that its not possible to add Billable in the filter?

Also, i cannot see the entry text in the report, i just see what project. Thats also different from Track.

Exciting news. Seems like a good idea! We’ve been wanting to move from Track to Focus, but what is holding us back right now is that tracked hours cannot be synced to Focus. Is this something that will happen when we move from Track to Toggl 2.0?

Hi @Teun thank you for your question and welcome to the community

It is possible to import your Toggl Track data into Toggl 2.0, you can learn more about that here: Importing data from Toggl Plan and Toggl Track to Toggl 2.0

You can also enable a live sync between the two tools. To find out more about how to do that please check out this support article: Live sync between Toggl Track and Toggl 2.0

This is great. Look forward to working on Toggle 2.0. Someday soon when I land at a job, i want to upgrade to the monthly one. Thanks for this great app.

Yay! I was worried I had to move to a product that does way more than I need and would have started looking for alternatives if that had been the case. I’m glad Track is here to stay.

Perfect! We’ve imported all tracked data and will start using Toggl 2.0 from now on  Almost everything seems to work as we’re used to.

I do have some notes:

  • In de ‘Reports’ page on 2.0, I don’t see the ‘Project Distribution’ pie chart, which I quite liked as a visual overview. Is this no longer available?
  • It seems that I can’t add a tag to a log-item that wasn’t planned. Is it only possible to add tags to items you plan? There are often unplanned logs that I would like to give a tag.

Thanks!

All my hours got deleted :woman_facepalming:t2:

I need some urgent help

Nice! I can’t wait to check it out. I had tried Track back when you first launched it but I didn’t have the time to help beta test so I am actually still in Toggl Plan. Any tips or tricks on converting over from the Plan/Track workflow into one single Toggl 2.0 workflow? I saw where I can upload a photo so I was thinking of starting out with a screenshot of my Toggl Plan week and seeing what it can do.

I always just keep the two tabs open but I would love to be able to consolidate.

Hello!

What about Toggl Plan? Do you plan on keeping the legacy app for a while? It is still very useful for us, as is.

Thanks a lot!
