# Toggl 2.0 Timeline View

The Timeline view in Toggl 2.0 gives you a flexible way to plan, assign, and review work across your team. Instead of juggling different views, you can filter and group a single timeline to see exactly what you need — whether by projects or by people.

### Make sure tasks have dates

- Tasks with dates are automatically shown on the timeline.
- If a task doesn’t appear, check if it has a start and/or due date — add these to place it on the timeline.

### Assign tasks to people

- Open a task and assign it to a team member.
- The task will now show up in their lane when you group the timeline by **team member**.

### Switch between grouping modes

- Group by People → see tasks by person, helping you understand workload and balance responsibilities.
- Group by Project → see all tasks organized by project, making it easier to track progress and deadlines.
- Group by tags → for a view of all tasks organized by custom tags

### Use filters

Filter by member, project, status, priority, and tags to zero in on what matters most — whether that’s a single initiative, one person’s workload, or a specific type of task.

- **​** Create tasks with a click and expand task size for more detail.

- Drag unplanned work straight from the task list, and plan in a cleaner, wider layout thanks to the collapsible sidebar.

- Updated tooltips surface assignees, project, client, and dates at a glance, and refined capacity indicators give you a more accurate view of availability.
