There is a persistent issue while trying to add a new task. From the global “tasks” menu it works fine, but I can’t assign the task to a specific project, it tells me that if I do so the task will be private but even after I click “Make task private” it does not assign a project to it. If you try to “quick” add a task in the project’s tasks view it just disappears, you need to hit cmd+enter to add it via advanced menu. I can’t also add any new tasks from board. I have added a short video to show those issues: https://youtu.be/USnD8G5g5D8
Thanks for reporting this issue. It sounds like you’re experiencing some challenges with task creation in specific contexts within Toggl Track.
Based on what you’ve described, here are some things you can try:
When adding a task to a specific project, make sure you’re using the advanced menu (cmd+enter on Mac or ctrl+enter on Windows) rather than the quick add feature, as this appears to be more reliable for assigning tasks to projects.
If you’re seeing a message about tasks becoming private when assigned to a project, you may want to review your project settings and privacy configurations to ensure they’re set up as you’d expect.
For the board view specifically, try adding tasks through the project’s task view or the global tasks menu instead, as these appear to work more consistently.
If these workarounds don’t resolve the issues you’re experiencing, there may be a technical issue at play that would benefit from more detailed investigation.
Okay, the workarounds I explained and you repeated do work, but I still want to use the intended “quick” task creation, assign the tasks from global tasks menu and add tasks on the board. You should investigate those issues and fix them.
Wow, I found the solution. My projects were imported from Toggle Track and were set to private, although Toggle Focus says all imported projects will become public they don’t and it causes all those issues. Once I changed them to public in Toggle Track and re-imported (without deleting whatsoever) everything works just fine!!!
