I’d love to suggest a feature that could enhance the usability of Toggl Track: a daily timeline visualization. The idea is to have a slim, interactive timeline bar at the top of each day in the time tracking view.
Key Features:
Visual Gaps and Overlaps
Each time entry would appear as a segment on the timeline, and gaps between entries or overlapping entries would be immediately visible. This would help users quickly spot if they’ve forgotten to track time or accidentally created overlapping entries.
Interactive Highlights
Hovering over a time entry in the timeline would highlight the corresponding entry in the list (and vice versa). This would make it easy to connect timeline segments with detailed information below.
Drag-and-Drop Editing
Allow users to adjust time entries directly on the timeline by dragging the edges.
Include the ability to “split” entries by clicking on a point in the timeline for easier correction of mistakes (e.g., overlapping entries).
This feature could significantly streamline time tracking and make Toggl even more user-friendly. I hope you’ll consider it for a future update!
Thanks for listening,

Hi Nida,
Thank you for the response! You’re absolutely right that the Calendar view offers a similar functionality, and I appreciate the effort that’s already gone into making time tracking more visual and interactive. However, I believe that the approach I suggested could provide a much cleaner and more intuitive overview for daily time tracking.
Here’s why:
Clutter-Free Overview
The Calendar view is great for scheduling, but when there are many entries in a day, the view quickly becomes cluttered, making it hard to distinguish individual entries, overlaps, or gaps.
A slim timeline bar at the top of each day would condense this information into a simple, linear format, where each entry is represented as a segment along the timeline. This would make it much easier to get an at-a-glance view of how the day is structured.1. Everything in One View
A horizontal timeline (like the slim one already implemented in the layout) would allow users to see gaps, overlaps, and the overall flow of time entries without switching between different views (e.g., Calendar and List views).
Keeping all this information in one compact area saves time and eliminates the need to jump back and forth between views for better context.1. Quick Visual Insights
Unlike the Calendar view, which is more focused on showing entries in a time-block format, a timeline would allow users to instantly spot gaps or overlaps in a much more streamlined way.1. Focused Interaction
Highlighting entries on both the timeline and the list below when hovering would add a layer of interactivity that ties the visualization directly to the details. This would reduce the need to search for specific entries in the list.1. Enhanced Usability for Corrections
While the Calendar view supports dragging and splitting, it’s harder to pinpoint exact start/end times or identify where overlaps occur in a busy schedule. A timeline’s simplicity and horizontal layout could make these corrections more intuitive and efficient.
By integrating this slim timeline directly into the daily view, Toggl would provide a much more efficient and user-friendly way to manage time tracking. I hope this feedback helps clarify the potential advantages of such a feature!
Thanks again for considering my suggestion.
Best regards,
… By the way – I’d be happy to make a ‘dummy-layout’, that shows how I imagine it could look like. Just let me know, if that could be interesting for your developers to see.
