Feedback on new update to: Reports > Detailed

Posting here since feedback mechanism seems to only appear randomly and is too small for comments in volume; also, it keeps asking for more detail when there is plenty so my first suggestion is to make it easier to submit technical feedback directly from the ui in the left menu

Reports > Detailed: UI Stuff

There is lots of wasted white/negative space has been created by using fixed column widths for everything and some white space/visual padding can be reduced significantly e.g. space between checkbox and left most item. Checkbox can also be closer to margin.

Can’t find the ability to auto fit specific columns to content as lots of data is chopped.

Line spacing heights/padding should be configurable via options that offer different padding/view amounts like condensed, normal, thick. There is a lot of wasted space.

Selecting one or multiple items creates a new line causing the page to shift leaving the cursor hovering over an item that wasn’t clicked so when the user naturally goes up or down to select the next item it causes confusion. The page should not move just because a selection is made by clicking a checkbox. Also, a new empty line at the top is not necessary because there is already a header that contains the Edit and Delete functions. Put the aggregated time total there, that way when the user selects multiple items that are lower in the list, they don’t have to scroll back up to see the total time for those items. Also, I can’t see the total time and the items that were selected at the same time if we have to scroll back to the top to see the items, this just become a loop of up and down scrolling to record data.

Vertical scroll bars are too small making clicking them inconsistent. Horizontal scroll bar is only at the bottom and it’s too thin. I must scroll horizontally to see some columns because it’s in a separate element/box and the horizontal scroll bar doesn’t show up as the browser scroll bar. So, for long filters with lots of data (which is every filter) requires scrolling all the way down the bottom of the page just to scroll right then scroll back to the top to see the time date etc.. (removing columns to make the page narrow isn’t useful because I need the columns I select). Now when I scroll back to the top I can’t see the left so I can’t read the item name because that’s now hidden in order to match it to the time. I’d have to remove columns then put them back every time I want to work

The ability to move from page to page should be both at the top and bottom there is none at the top so users must scroll back to the bottom every single time.

Page length or amount of line items shown per page should be configurable perhaps even an infinite scroll option for premium users.

The help button is right on top of the scroll bar can that just be in the menu on the left

The heading section with Total Hours, Billable Hours, Average daily hours etc… doesn’t need a border or highlight it can sit on the base/background layer providing enhanced visual separation between the list below and the top header for the page (to many horizontal lines/separations in such a small area.

The column headings Description, Client, Project etc should be fixed in vertical position and not move with the vertical scrolling making adding and removing columns on the fly much faster and easier as well as other operations.

Hey @Design_Refinery

Thanks for the feedback - I’ve sent this off to the team to take into consideration. I can’t guarantee this feedback you’ve provided will be implemented, but it will definitely be discussed!
