I’m a little bit confused with the autotracker. Last night I set up a number of rules for various apps and websites I used. All was working perfectly last night, but this morning the autotracker doesn’t seem to recognise the rules - despite trying various pages the timer doesn’t start.
I’ve checked the settings in the Track desktop app and all rules are turned on and there’s no conflicts.
I’ve checked that the Record Activity option is on and also manually started the timer to see if that helped but still no auto tracker.
So I got mine figured out, well at least it’s working for now. I’ve found that depending on certain apps, but more web pages, you have to be really specific in terms of what Toggl is looking for. If you go into the settings>preferences in the desktop app and look for Autotracker you can see all the rules that are created when you drag the target icon onto an app. Play with the section “If window title contains:” and also “Title Matching Mode” to get it to work every time. For some of my web pages its a single word.
Despite that, even still some web apps don’t seem to auto-track and in the end a simple page refresh starts the tracker. Not sure why that is and it’s not ideal, but it’s still quicker than manually setting up a start time.
