I use Toggl as a reference to input the data into another tool. The timesheet format works perfectly for this, BUT I hate that tags are automatically separated out like they’re a whole new project.
I want to keep the tag for my own reference, but when I’m actually looking at the raw data of how I sent my time, I just want the tag grouped with the overall project. It drives me a little batty that my tag is at the top and my actual project is at the bottom, so I have to mentally combine the two numbers (talking about the 2 “writing” entries at the top and bottom). I’d appreciate a simple toggle where tag entries are just grouped with the overall project entries.
The reason this happens is because a time entry with a tag is separate from a time entry without a tag. Could you tell me why you are adding a second row? Each timesheet cell on Timesheet view can correspond to multiple time entries, I’m unsure if you are perhaps using Track in a way it wouldn’t be suited for.
I have one big project for writing (education, critique partners, etc) and a tag for a specific novel. I want the option to filter by just that tag so I can see what hours I spent actually on my novel. But when it comes to looking at my timesheet, I just want it all to be lumped under "Writing.”
In my screenshot you can see how it’s the same “#1 - Writing” (the first and last entries), but they’re automatically split into two separate lines because some are tagged. I literally just want to be able to toggle an option to group all time entries under one project instead of tags separating it. If I wanted it to be completely separate all the time, I’d make a new project.
Thanks for the clarification! Because our system would indeed view these lines as separate because of the addition of a tag(s), merging them isn’t possible at this time. But I can share this as a suggestion with our team if you’d like!
