Feedback on Reports

If I remember correctly, the old analytics used to show a pie chart of the time entries descriptions. I don’t always Tag my time entries, and it would be nice to see it in a pie chart as opposed to a list on the project summary page.

Also, when clicking the title of the time entry on the Summary page, I noticed it doesn’t go to that time entry. I have to click one of the Time % entries on the right of the title.
When doing that, it takes me to the Detailed page, but doesn’t save the project name as one of my Filters. It would be very helpful if it saved the Project title as one of the Filters.

Hi @mrittman

If you are referring to grouping options for adding a chart to a dashboard, you are correct. There used to be an option to group by description and choose to display the data in a pie chart like so:

You can still disable the beta program and go back to the old reports and the old Analytics to do this, and in the meantime, I’ll share your feedback with the product team. Hopefully, we will be able to meet your needs better with the new layout when it goes out of beta.

Thank you so much for your reply Veljko! I may go back to the old analytics for the time being. I didn’t see the link for it on the left sidebar, so I assumed it was removed.

When you enable the beta, the Analytics button goes away because the new Analytics is actually “My Reports” as a tab within Reports.

I also shared your feedback on clicking through a time entry from the Summary report with the team. This doesn’t feel intended and will be fixed if it is a bug in the beta.

Also when filtering Descriptions, I feel the default condition should be “contains”, not “is”.

Some more feedback for Reports

If you look in the bottom left, it shows a few descriptions I’ve entered. However, when trying to use those terms in my search filter, it can’t seem to find anything. It appears to be limited to one specific term.

That’s a nice catch, shared it with the team - I’ll update here as soon as I know more if this is intended and what the logic behind it is

The description filter has been updated. The default condition is now “contains,” and the condition itself has been improved. Give it a try and let us know your thoughts.

Wow, that’s so nice that you’d consider my input! Not many companies do this, so thank you so much! Now it just needs to accept multiple words, and then it will be perfect!
