Having different time formats in dashboards

One thing that I have struggled with since the implementation of the new dashboards is having them display a time format different to what my timers show.

For example, when I’ve got my timer running while I’m working, I prefer to see the improved duration display format provided from my profile options, so I can see to the second how long I’ve been spending on a task, and the same with my prior time entries in my tracked time. However, when I am looking at a weekly dashboard of time tracked, that I need to enter into the company’s time sheet system, I need to look at it using the decimal format, as we have to log things in hours, e.g. 1.5h for this, 2.1h for that, etc.

In the older reporting system, I seem to recall that it was an option to have each component of a report render with a different format. Am I just missing that with the new dashboards? Right now, my process is to go and swap my profile setting to decimal when I’m entering my weekly time, and then (if I remember), switch it back to improved format when I’m done, which feels somewhat inefficient. I’m hoping there’s another way that I’m just missing.

This is a great use case, and I understand the workflow challenge. Unfortunately, the new dashboards in Toggl don’t currently have the ability to display time in a different format than what you’ve set in your profile preferences. The time format you choose in your profile settings applies across all areas where time is displayed, including dashboards.

So right now, your workaround of switching your profile time format setting between improved duration and decimal format is what’s available. I know that’s not ideal, but it does let you get the exact display you need for each context.

This would be a valuable feature to have - the ability to configure time format display on individual dashboard widgets or reports independent of your global profile setting. That way you could see seconds in one place and decimal hours in another without needing to change your profile settings back and forth.
