Your Question/Topic: How do I import projects that include the basics: start date/time, end date/time, tasks, non-billable, total est. hours. I’ve read everything on this site related in csv imports, and I can’t get it to work.
I understand you’re trying to import projects with specific fields like start/end dates, tasks, non-billable status, and estimated hours. Unfortunately, the knowledge base context I have doesn’t include detailed information about which fields are supported in CSV imports or how to format them correctly.
What I can tell you is that Toggl does have import and export functionality, but based on similar questions in the community, it appears that not all fields you’re looking to import may be fully supported - particularly end dates and time estimates have been mentioned as problematic by other users.
To get the most accurate information about exactly which project fields can be imported and in what format, I’d recommend checking the Import & Export section of the Toggl Track Help Center, as that’s where the detailed specifications for CSV imports should be documented. I’ve designed my import based on the Import & Export section of the Toggl Track Help Center. It is unclear and is not very helpful. Is there another option? Is there anyway to contact Toggl support directly? Is there anyone else out there in the community that has successfully imported projects with start/end dates, billable (no) flag, etc? You’d think importing would be a clear and straight-forward process, and either I’m not understanding their help documentation or my assumption is not valid for the Toggl project import process.
Or, can someone provide a template import csv file for me to model after? That would be helpful as well.

The only fields available for importing Projects via CSV are outlined in our Import guide.
This includes: Project name, client, tasks, and Project assignees.
Start date/time, end date/time, non-billable, total est. hours are not available in the CSV import, unfortunately.

When will the other very relevant fields be added to the import process? Not being able to import start – end dates, plus the other necessary meta data, seems to be a major oversight. As a developer myself, I can’t imagine your backend database is so complex that these metadata fields make the import process unviable.
There’s no formal ETA for if/when those would be added, but it’s something we can pass along to our team as feedback!
