My organization has recently adopted Toggl Track and mostly we are loving the experience.
However, we have found one annoying feature that we request be fixed. We are an organization that has team members spread across the world in different time zones, but we rely on reporting our hours in a single standard time zone so that invoicing can be done properly. Right now, since we have our local time and report time zone set differently, we are getting pop-up notification every single time the browser is refreshed about a “Timezone mismatch.”
Please either disable the annoying pop-up behavior for this or allow users to choose not to receive repeated notifications of this type.
Just to clarify, are you intentionally asking everyone to set the same timezone for reports, even though this can make the data look a bit odd on the Reports page for individual users?
For example, if you’re in New York and set your timezone to Paris, your time entries will appear as if they happened overnight. When everyone uses their actual local timezone, it’s as if you’re all tracking time in the same place—so a 9–5 workday looks consistent across the team, regardless of location.
But if you set a specific timezone (like Paris) for reporting purposes, the data might appear outside of your working hours, depending on where you are.
So I just want to confirm—do you prefer standardizing the timezone across the team for consistent reporting, even if it looks off to individual users? Or would you rather each user see time entries aligned with their own local time?
Yes, to confirm we wish to have users set their reporting time zone as a standard (in our case it is New York), regardless of their local time zone. This is because our current system of invoicing relies on individual team members downloading their time reports for the month and submitting those with an invoice to get paid.
Team members need to generally be available to work during company operating hours (e.g., 9-5 New York time) regardless of their location. So, for example for team members based in the Philippines, they may work technically into the next day, even though it is still the previous work day for people who are in local New York time.
When it comes to month-end, we don’t want the situation of team members in the Philippines or other distant time zones to have work time that is reported as part of the next month - in the case where the last day of the month worked for them actually spills into the first day of the next month. Hope this makes sense.
It would be much appreciated if there was an option for users to dismiss the notification and choose to not see it again (or prevent the pop-up behavior).
Thanks so much for the additional context! I’ve shared everything with our product team. While I can’t guarantee that a change will be made, I can assure you that your suggestion will be part of the discussion. Hopefully, we’ll be able to improve things in a way that better fits your needs soon.
