Query about Google Calendar and Toggl Track Project Auto-synchronization

I am writing to inquire about the possibility of implementing automatic project classification based on Google Calendar events.

I am currently using the Google Calendar integration with Toggl Track, and calendar events are successfully displaying in the Toggl Track calendar view. However, I would like to enhance this integration further.

Specifically, I would like to know if it’s possible to set up the following functionality:

  • When I add an event to a specific calendar in Google Calendar (e.g., “Work” calendar)

  • Have Toggl Track automatically classify that time entry under the corresponding project (e.g., “Work” project)

Currently, I need to manually select the project for each time entry in Toggl Track, even though the calendar events are already categorized in Google Calendar.

Is there any way to implement this kind of automatic project classification based on Google Calendar categories?

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,

Hello there,

Thanks for reaching out! I appreciate your detailed explanation of what you’re looking for—it’s a great idea. :toggl-heart:

At the moment, we don’t support automatic project classification based on the Google Calendar event’s category or calendar name. However, if you consistently assign the same project to a recurring calendar event, Toggl Track will eventually start pre-filling the project based on your last selection.

That said, I’ve added your suggestion to our internal feedback tracker so that our product team can consider it for future improvements. We’re always looking for ways to make time tracking more intuitive, and we really appreciate your input! :toggl-muscle:

Happy tracking! :toggl-rocket:

Thank you so much for your consideration! I’ve just discovered Toggl, and my use case would benefit exactly from this missing feature. I’d like to illustrate with an example:

here i would like an event like this to create a time record and auto-tag it with project AIWB because there is a matching tag in the name of the calendar event

preferably, copying events as time entries would also be automatic, since i have a dedicated google calendar just for those

thank you!
