When I go to Toggl Track, I get a “Something went wrong” error message. I can see that it starts to load, and my timer is still ticking from a previous job. But it immediately goes to this error message. I tried different browsers and logging in on my phone. I also checked to see if Toggl has any issues, and it’s not showing anything right now. Nothing works! What’s going on here?
Im also having this problem. Their status site shows zero indication that something is wrong. Ive contacted support but kept getting their bot.
I’m having the same issue right now. Apparently, it’s some big error with the server.
Same, my team is completely down.
Same. Sent email to support, got useless reply from AI robot.
Same problem here, I guess I’m glad its not just me. No luck either contacting support, tips from the AI response did not help. Although I discovered I can still view my and use my timer on the app through my phone…in case that helps anyone else.
I just got an email that they fixed it. I refreshed, and I’m back! Hope it works for you all too!
Me too - AI bot referred me to status page, which says all fine. but DownDetector shows sudden massive peak at 4:40gmt
Hey everyone, it appears to be resolved now, please refresh your page!
appears to be resolved now, please refresh your page
We apologize for the temporary hiccup earlier. The issue has been resolved, and everything is back to normal.
Thanks for your patience! If you notice anything unusual, feel free to reach out.
I wouldn’t call it resolved. The timer still spins for several minutes before starting to work. Even when I’m already logged in and looking at the timer, if I refresh the Timer page, it spins for several minutes.
I can easily understand that’s due to cold-start, but I thought I should mention it.
Is it better after you clear your browser’s cache memory?
I’d hesitate to say “better.” I cleared not only the cache but all of the Toogle cookies and local data. When I log back in, it still spins for a significant time.
I just opened the Toggle timer in a new web browser window, without clearing cache or other data. This time it was spinning for less than a minute. But it did that even though I had the timer open and running in another web browser window.
I expect it’ll go back to normal at some point, but right now the web site is not as responsive as it was before the outage.
Understood, thanks for the details! I’ll be sharing this with the team.
@sbw Just checking how things are today?
Typically, the approach below is akin to clearing the cache for a specific site. However, we’ve found that suggesting a hard refresh has helped resolve persistent issues for a small number of users like yourself. I wanted to highlight this solution as well and ask you ti give it a try:
Windows users: hold down Ctrl and then press F5 on your keyboard.
Mac users: hold down Cmd and Shift and then press R on your keyboard.
Let me know if it helped
Back to normal this morning, thanks. On Windows Brave browser, I used Ctrl-Shift-R (same as Ctrl-F5), and the timer spent only 1-2 seconds spinning. That’s with the Brave “shields” turned on and the Cookie Autodelete extension enabled (with *.toggl.com on the allow list).
As before the outage, Brave blocks the continuous requests to posthog.com
, but that doesn’t cause any performance or functional problems.
I do appreciate the quick response yesterday during the outage and the follow-up today. (Sorry for my dig on the initial AI email response yesterday. “Jake,” who appears to be a human, followed up within minutes. Any mention of “AI” is a trigger for me. I’d prefer just an acknowledgement email, maybe with an estimated response time and a link to FAQs.)
I’ve been on the Free plan as an independent contractor for more than ten years, and I recommend Toggl to anybody who will listen. This is the first outage I can remember during that time, so I can’t complain.
By the way, I also like Discourse a lot. I never needed to sign up to this forum before yesterday, and I was so relieved to see Toggl uses Discourse, instead of some random hard-to-use forum tool. And when I saw this thread (Thanks, @Terez_Howard!), I was relieved to know it was probably just a transient outage. And when I saw @Tara_Hensley report the phone app was still working, I remembered that I’ve used the phone app exclusively from time to time, but by the time I reached for my phone, the web site was back up.
Toggl’s Free tier really serves me well. Thanks! I keep thinking I should set up a self-hosted time tracker, but I could never do as good a job as Toggl!
Hence the Discourse AI can only do so much. It was introduced as a means of maintaining fast reply times for product-related topics with the user base growing rapidly and the product offering expanding (Toggl Plan, Toggl Hire, Toggl Work) without having an army of support people; we take pride in how we do support, scaling that way probably wouldn’t be best and would pair AI in quality.
Discourse is the first step in our efforts to empower users to find relevant info easily and help others as well, be it with tips on tracking or solutions to common issues. The Toggl community is officially just starting out, but we have had amazing, helpful users such as yourself for years, and we know that having a platform where everyone can connect will be beneficial all around
Thank you!!
ps. @Jake is human and says Hi!
