Track duration by timestamp

I love the start and stop features, but could you add a way for the program to automatically calculate the time between events, like clocking in and out? I use a wheelchair and have caregivers, and I’m required to track my sleep hours. It would be helpful if users could add custom presets like “in bed” or “woke up,” and the app could calculate the duration between those timestamps with dates and log it as an activity. While users can manually set start and end times, it would be great to have a timestamp option alongside the clock. A widget with tappable presets for easy logging would make it even better. A feature like this would make it so much easier to track tasks like this rather than having to use a note app and write everything down.

Hi @Erin

Thank you for this detailed feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to explain your use case.

If I understand correctly, you’d like custom timestamp presets (like “in bed” or “woke up”) that you can tap to log specific moments, and have the app automatically calculate the duration between them. A widget with these presets would make tracking even easier without having to open the full app each time.

Toggl Track does calculate time between start and stop automatically, but right now it requires actively starting and stopping a timer rather than logging individual timestamps. You can manually adjust start and end times after creating entries, but I totally understand that’s not as convenient as the one-tap solution you’re describing.

I’ll make sure to share this with our product team. Your specific use case for tracking caregiver activities and sleep hours is exactly the kind of real-world context that helps us prioritize what to build, and I think this would genuinely help a lot of people with similar needs.

Thanks again for the thoughtful suggestion!

That’s exactly what I was trying to describe. Thank you for sending me this information to the engineering team. right now I’m manually putting in the entries in the morning, but it would be great to be able to have this feature to make it faster. I’m also considered having the timer run in the background of my phone as I sleep, but that would be over in like 11 to 12 hours so you would be great if I could just walk with the two points and then have it calculate.

Thanks, Erin! I’ll pass this feedback on to the team
