What happened to the shareable timelines?

They used to be one of our favorite features in Toggl Plan, as they allowed us to share project plans directly with our clients. As an agency, we found this feature extremely useful.

Are they coming back, or have they been completely deprecated?
It’s an important factor for us in deciding whether to keep using the tool or move to another one.

Thanks for reaching out about shareable timelines - I know how valuable those were for client communication in Toggl Plan.

We’re actively exploring the best way to bring this functionality to Focus, and I’d love to get your input on an approach we’re considering.

Instead of public shareable links, what if we introduced a guest role?

This would work similarly to how you share Notion docs or Google Drive files with external users - you’d invite specific clients to view particular projects or timelines without giving them full access to your workspace. The key benefits would be:

  • More secure - only invited people can access the timeline, not anyone with a link
  • Selective sharing - control exactly which projects each client sees

From your perspective as an agency, would this guest role approach meet your needs for sharing project plans with clients? Or is there something about the public shareable link that’s essential to your workflow?

Understanding how you currently use shareable timelines (who you share with, how often, any specific concerns) will help us make sure we build the right solution for teams like yours.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Thanks for your reply!

Honestly, what made the shareable timelines great was their simplicity, something we could easily share with stakeholders to give them, at a glance, a clear view of where we were in the process.

I’d also like to understand what will happen to the existing shared timelines if you plan to remove them. We currently have dozens of clients with access to these timelines - will they suddenly lose access?
If that’s the case, we’d need to migrate to another tool before that happens.
