I will have everything offline over the weekend, but when I log-in on Monday, my API token isn’t working. When I check the limits, it says I’ve used 30/30, but it says this every day. Sometimes, I am able to do one or two requests, and then it stops working again.
I have a free account and I am using Stream Deck Toggl application for the API connection. I have used this for years without issue.
At this moment it says I’ve used 12/30 in my organization and 30/30 from user specific requests. I am the only user, so I am not sure how these numbers are always different.
If I am completely misunderstanding how this works, I apologize. I just want to be able to use my quick buttons on my Stream Deck as I work on a multitude of projects daily.
Heya! We’ve actually been hearing similar feedback from other Stream Deck users, and it appears to stem from how you’ve set up your Stream Deck buttons. The user-based requests to the API are usually requests to start or stop time entries (Time entries | Toggl Engineering), which do tend to stack up your limit more quickly than the organizational API calls (which are usually more generic requests, project creation, reports, etc).
While we’re unfortunately unable to adjust how Stream Deck manages utilizing the API calls, I’d recommend checking on whether or not those are the buttons/options you are primarily using
I’m using a community Plug-in on Stream deck, so I’m not sure how it runs on the back-end. I am only using buttons to start and stop time entries. I tend to jump between projects so the buttons are more convenient than manually typing in each time entry.
This morning, I hit a button to start the timer for an existing project. Individual usage shows 1, Organizational showed 5. After I hit the same button to stop the timer, Individual usage shows 30 and Organizational is 8! Is there a way to see the specific API requests in Toggl?
I’m having the same issue, but it only started about a month or 2 ago! I’ve been using the Stream Deck plugin for several years with no issues, then suddenly, I’m hitting limits when I’ve made at best a couple of API calls (timer on, followed by timer off). It makes no sense, but without assistance from Toggl or visibility into what’s happening, I fear all we can expect is blame shifting from both sides!
I’m having the same issue and it seems they simply refuse to handle the situation or give back unlimited API usage. Even people on a paid plan struggle, so I’m not even considering paying for them seeing how they neglect requests from paid users too, unless they give back unlimited usage on a smaller package too. The main issue is the 30/h limit. Which basically tops up with just one-two task switches on a Stream deck.
