We’ve been trying out the Beta version of goals. These are some bits we found didn’t work for us:
Ideally more than 4 goals per person
Once a goal is created, you can’t see or change what tag/project it’s tracking (including checking you did put the correct tag/project)
We’d like to be able set monthly goals, not just daily or weekly
We want to use it to review weekly whether staff are working on their allocated work, but this means we have to remember to screenshot the goals page at the end of every week, ready to review on the Monday. It would be helpful to see specified timings, eg ‘goals last week’.
Thanks so much for sharing your feedback! It’s really helpful to hear how the Beta version of Goals is working (or not working ) for you. I’ve passed all of this on to our product team so they’re aware of the pain points and suggestions.
We totally get how important it is to have more flexibility with goals, and your input helps us shape future improvements. While I can’t say when or if these changes will happen, it’s on our radar now.
Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience—let us know if there’s anything else on your mind!
Hey
+1 here for monthly goals and for visible last period goal result (like yesterday, last week). It’s also could be useful to have an option tick like “Transfer the goal reminder (if any) to the next period” in a case when a goal is not fulfilled fully.
Seems like once you create a goal it only captures time logged against that goal after the goal is created. It would be good to be able to specif goal START DATE. For example, I created a goal on wednesday but want to show time against that goal for the week, but it’s too late now.
When I created my account, I was nudged to use goals on the timer page. Initially, I chose to hide the goals. Now I don’t see any way to activate the view of goals on the timer page again.
tl;dr: I want to see my goals in the calendar view of the timer
I’d love the ability to have non-obstructing notifications for reaching a goal. A couple potential options:
a subtle animation on/around the goal display
a dismissable toast notification
profile setting to disable the goal notifications entirely (e.g. Asana provides this with a “Show occasional celebrations” boolean control)
As is, though, the page-blocking modal notification is a real obstacle to usability — and has caused me to consistently mess up time entries as it pops up as I’m making edits!
Another one I’ve just come across… It would be helpful to be able to sort the goals in some way. I am monitoring goals for several different people and can’t work out what order they are in, let alone reorder them by eg staff member or project.
