Improved mobile interface to gain productive time

Hi, the last update of the iphone app, they have changed the interface and it is much less efficient. This addition has meant a waste of time for me of almost 2 days making unnecessary clicks in the app.

I have been using Toggl Track for years. Especially on my iPhone, where I track my whole day: work hours, study hours, reading hours, time with my son, my wife, family, sleeping, WC, etc. I keep an exhaustive control of all my daily activities, to have a control of where to save time.

I also use an application called Opal, where it breaks down the time I spend on applications on my phone, and it also helps me to optimize and become aware of my time. Since the last update, the time I spend using Toggl Track is 15 minutes a day, an increase of more than 50% over the previous version. Although it may not seem like a lot of time, 7 minutes of increased usage per day (which could be improved with the additions below), means 42.5 hours per year on Toggl more than before, almost 2 days of lost productivity.

The link below contains a screenshot of my iPhone:

Main problems I have detected in this update:

  • Clicking on the text of a new task does not automatically activate the keyboard (it used to), so you have to make 2 clicks instead of one.
  • To edit the start time to the last built-in time, click on the clock and then click on “Set to last time”.
  • To edit the final time, you cannot stop on the same screen, you have to scroll to the end, to hit the “stop” button, go back up and edit the time. This whole step is very time inefficient.
  • The circular clock that appears, in my opinion, is useless, it is much more efficient and practical the rotating clock in the image.

Points in favor of this update.

  • The addition of the end time updaters with “-15 min, -5 min, +5 min, +15min”. I think this is a big plus that improves the timing in the application.

Suggestions for improvement:

  • Editing the start and end time without scrolling or clicking, when entering the image window, all editing buttons should be accessible without scrolling.
  • Automatic opening of the keyboard when starting a task by clicking on the task text.
  • When the “Set to last stop time” button is clicked, detect when the last stop time is from the previous day, as currently the manual date has to be set.

With these 3 simple implementations, you would gain more than 8 minutes a day (in my case that I control everything), but it would also be a significant time by improving the UX of the app.
Additional improvements that would also improve time and UX:

  • Improved prediction of suggestions or extension so that a project can be started directly by clicking without having to enter text.
  • Elimination of the circular clock. It takes up a lot of space and is not very useful in use.

Thank you and best regards
Jordi.
