Latest Toggl Track (macOS) won't open, even after reinstallation

UPDATE: Restoring via TimeMachine to 10.15.0 (2986) (which is what it’s called in the “About Toggl Track” dialog) worked, further pointing to the problem being the latest update.

My Toggl Track (v4.50.128 / 10.16.0 according to App Store, macOS 26.4.1) won’t open, even after deleting it from my Application folder and reinstalling it from the App Store. It worked fine on Thursday, but I see that the latest version was released on Friday.

The iOS app and the Toggl website work just fine. A complete reboot didn’t help either…

Is there a key combination one can hold when starting up to make it reset the preferences, or something similar?

Hi there!

To resolve this, we’d recommend deleting the local database files for the Toggl Track macOS app. This is the quickest fix and is completely safe as long as all your time entries have been synced.

If you’re unsure whether you have any unsynced entries, feel free to contact us via DM and send us the files first so we can check for you. If you’re confident everything is synced, you can go ahead and delete them directly.

Here’s how:

1. Open Finder and press Cmd + Shift + G

2. Paste this path: ~/Library/Group Containers/B227VTMZ94.group.com.toggl.daneel.extensions

3. Delete the files in that folder

4. Restart the app
