  3. You can create the project name and add a client directly from the task modal
  4. Task estimates can be set up independently or be calculated based on task estimates

Viewing Project Details

Once the project is created, open the Project Overview to see and edit all project details and members in one place. You can navigate to project-specific views (task list, timeline, board) from the same view.

Monitoring Your Project

There are two ways to monitor your project:

  • Project Overview page – view and manage project details
  • Project List – provides a high-level overview of all projects

The Time Status indicator communicates:

  • Your progress (count and %) towards a total project-level time estimate if estimate is set, or
    • We display a red progress bar if a user has moved overtime
    • And a green progress bar if a project seems to be on track
  • How much total time has been tracked on the project if no estimate set

Variance is the difference between project time estimate and total time tracked against the project.

Based on the information provided, Toggl has two main ways to monitor and view your projects:

The Project Overview page allows you to see and edit all project details and members in one place. From here, you can also navigate to project-specific views like your task list, timeline, and board.

The Project List gives you a high-level overview of all your projects at once.

In the Project Overview, you’ll see a Time Status indicator that shows your progress toward your project’s time estimate (displayed as both a count and percentage). If you’ve tracked more time than estimated, you’ll see a red progress bar indicating overtime. A green progress bar means your project is on track. If no estimate is set, it will simply show how much total time has been tracked.

You’ll also see Variance displayed, which is the difference between your project’s time estimate and the total time you’ve actually tracked against it.
