Tags are not preserved when selecting previous time entries in the toggl track mobile app

When selecting a previously tracked time entry in the mobile app, the tags associated with that entry are not preserved.

I have several past entries that include tags. These entries appear correctly as suggestions when creating a new entry. However, when I select one of them in the mobile app, the tags are missing and I have to add them manually.

This behavior is inconsistent with both:

  • The web app, where selecting a previous entry correctly restores the tags.

  • The “Continue time entry” option in the mobile app, which does preserve the tags.

Because of this inconsistency, recreating previously used entries on mobile requires manually re-adding tags.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a time entry with one or more tags.

  2. Stop the timer so the entry is saved.

  3. In the mobile app, start a new entry by selecting that previous entry suggestion.

  4. Observe that the tags are not included.

Expected behavior

The selected previous entry should include the same tags as the original entry, just like in the web app and when using “Continue time entry”.

Thanks for the detailed report. It sounds like you’ve identified an inconsistency in how the mobile app handles tags when selecting previous time entries.

Based on what you’ve described, this is not currently working as expected in the mobile app. The tags should be preserved when you select a previous entry as a suggestion, just like they are in the web app and when using the “Continue time entry” option.

This is definitely something that should be fixed to make the mobile app behavior consistent with the web app. I’ll share this feedback with the product team so they’re aware of this issue and the specific steps to reproduce it.

In the meantime, you can work around this by using the “Continue time entry” option instead of selecting the entry from suggestions, since that does preserve the tags as you’ve noted.
