I use Toggl every day except for weekends for years; I’ve logged in this morning and it’s indicating that there’s no recent entries to show and that I have to use the reports to view my time entries.
I signed up here to open the same issue. They somehow decided to only show entries for the current week in the timer view. Who came up with this? This completely destroys any workflow. It’s Monday, I want to open the timer and click the “Continue time entry” from something I worked on last week. But nothing is there. Ok, I’m confused. I see you can navigate at the top now. Alright. I select the previous week. So far so annoying. But I can finally click “Continue time entry”. I then click the stop button at the top. But nothing appears in the list. Alright, it only shows the entries from last week, so I need to navigate back to the current week to see and edit my new entry.
I hope this was an accident and not a deliberate change. Without the endless scrolling to load older entries this makes everything so much worse. This makes tracking time feel like work and it’s the first time I noticed that I’m using Toggl. It’s supposed to be in the background and nothing I have to think about.
Edit: even better, in contrast to reports it doesn’t track my current selection in the URL. So if I hit F5 I’m back to “Current week”. Infuriating.
Yes this change has completely killed what was the best feature of Toggl i.e. being able to click play again on a task from a previous week! We have found a potential work around if you click the date picker then click the actual month name (May), you’ll then get a month view in the list. No idea if it will keep you selection when navigating between screens or whether you’ll have to keep setting it but time will tell. Also why should we be required to create a seperate login for the forum???
I can only totally agree with the other commentors. This change is really killing the smooth user experience of toggl. Please bring back a rolling window of the last days in the timer view!
same, it is unusable now
Same here. This has added an extra hour or two to my weekly workflow. Definitely a backward step. =/
I won’t go so far as to saying it’s unusable or knowing what amount of time it will add to my workflow but I do agree with previous comments and it will definitely add time to my workflow and is very annoying. I really hope this was a simple oversight and the previous function/view will be brought back, whether that be exactly as it was or in addition to the filters it’s showing right now.
This is a terrible change. There is no reason to have a blank screen with no prior time entries when you log on Monday morning. The old system was fine. The error message says that there were no entries in the previous 90 days, which is false, so hopefully this is a UI error that will be quickly corrected.
Agree, terrible change!
Yes, this is the dumbest change anyone could make.
Absolutely this! Most of my projects last for months but some can last days or weeks. I go onto my timer to pick up where I left off and all of a sudden Toggl doesn’t see any of my older projects because of this new pull down tab for a specific time period! Awful change - please remove it!
Hi everyone! I was just in contact with Support regarding this, and got the following bit of information that you may be interested in:
“The default view shows the current week (this is being changed to past 7 days very soon for list view)”
Yeah, I noticed that change a couple hours ago but the previous version was still better and I don’t understand what problem they thought existed that needed a fix. Unless they wanted to reduce server load.
Yes, this is just terrible. It’s a completely broken user experience. I cannot believe this was released.
Ok, looks like the “past 7 days” has been implemented, but imho it should be at least 14-30 days to make an actual difference.
But now, we have another newcomer - “Goals”! We didn’t ask for that, did we? It feels like they have fired their UX designers, and engineers have taken their seats. They tend to push every element to a single view, which is frustrating.
But surely “past 7 days” is basically still only the past week, particularly if you pick up on a Friday. I need an option to remove the entire drop down or at the very least make “past year” a default option.
Have just commented exactly this before I saw your own comment. Past 7 days is useless to me. I need a “past year” or at least “past 6 months” as default option. I wish they would stop tinkering with the site - it worked perfectly fine, wonderfully simple and functional. Why the constant need to add things and ‘improve’ it when we liked it just the way it was.
Very frustrating change. I’ve registered to the forum several days ago just to upvote every thread this mentioning this issue… Why to fix something what is not broken?
Looks like we just got last 30 days
The “fix” that they made here has a quirk. When you load the timer page, it basically builds a report for the last entries with the dates listed in the time range above. However, if you don’t refresh the page, that time range never changes. So, if I am tracking time today, and see the entries, and come back to the same page tomorrow, the new time logs won’t appear since the last date in the range is the day before. You have to hit refresh on the web page to reset the date range to include today.
The timer change wasn’t well-thought-out, and is still not as good as it was before the change.
