If you’ve spotted a new “2.0” icon in your sidebar, received an email about a rebrand, or heard the name “Toggl 2.0” and wondered what it means — this post is for you.
Short version: Toggl Track isn’t going anywhere, and nothing changes unless you choose it. Here’s the detail.
The basics
What is Toggl 2.0? Toggl 2.0 is the direction Toggl is investing in. Toggl Track was built to answer “how much time did this take?” — and it does that better than anyone. Toggl 2.0 builds on that same trusted time data to answer the next set of questions teams are asking: do we have the capacity to take this on, are we making money on the work we’ve already said yes to, and what’s the right call for next quarter. Think of Toggl Track as the foundation and Toggl 2.0 as the next floor.
Is this just a name change?
Toggl 2.0 reflects the future of our roadmap, investments, and brand. We’re evolving from standalone time tracking into a connected planning, tracking, and reporting experience. At the same time, we’re staying committed to delivering the easiest time tracking experience and building alongside our users.
What was Toggl Focus? Toggl Focus was the working name we used while building the product. It’s the same thing — it’s now called Toggl 2.0.
What it means for existing Toggl Track users
Is Toggl Track going away? No. Toggl Track continues, and we have not set a sunset date. It keeps doing exactly what it does today — providing easy time tracking and giving you clear answers on how time was spent.
Is Toggl Track still supported and being developed? Yes. Toggl Track is still actively supported. It isn’t a legacy product you’re being pushed off of.
Do I have to migrate to Toggl 2.0? No — there are no forced migrations. You’re welcome and encouraged to try Toggl 2.0, but the decision to switch is entirely up to you. Migrate when it makes sense for you. Let us know if you need assistance in doing so.
What’s in it for me as a Toggl Track user?
Everything you love about Toggl Track, plus an added layer of planning, capacity management, and improved reporting. Toggl 2.0 is for when you want more from the time data you track – when your questions shift from “Where did the time go?” to “What should I do next?” We’re building in the open and moving fast—and we’d love your feedback.
Trying Toggl 2.0
Can I use Toggl Track and 2.0 together?
Yes. In fact, using both can be especially helpful while you’re exploring and testing Toggl 2.0. Toggl Track and Toggl 2.0 can sync data, making it easy to transition at your own pace.
That said, using both tools long term may not make sense. Toggl 2.0 includes powerful time tracking and reporting capabilities, along with planning and capacity management features that provide even more value on top.
How do I try Toggl 2.0? If you log in to focus.toggl.com with your Toggl Track credentials, a Toggl 2.0 workspace will be created for you — which is why some users already see it in their sidebar or Admin Console. Admins control who has access, so you can roll it out to part of your team rather than everyone at once.
What happens to my data? Nothing happens to your Toggl Track data. If you choose to import data into Toggl 2.0, the structure carries over so it matches what you have today. Nothing is moved or deleted without your say-so.
I’m interested in moving — what are the steps? Great! You can get started with Toggl 2.0 at your own pace using our resources:
- Import your data from Toggl Track to Toggl 2.0 following these steps
- Want to use Toggl Track and Toggl 2.0 side by side? Set up live sync between the two products, here’s how
- Need additional help? Reach out to your Customer Success contact or email support@toggl.com
Will my pricing change?
For existing Toggl Track users, pricing will carry over. Customers will be moved to the equivalent Toggl 2.0 tier for the remainder of their current billing period and will continue to receive that pricing for as long as they maintain an active Toggl Track subscription.
