Web app: Timer stops responding (can’t edit description or stop without page refresh)

Hello everyone,

For the last few days I’ve been running into a strange issue in the Toggl Track web app.

Environment:

  • OS: Windows 11
  • Browser: Google Chrome 142.0.7444.176
  • Platform: Web app (track.toggl.com)
  • No major changes in my setup recently

Issue:
When I start a timer, everything works fine at first. But after the timer has been running for some time, the UI stops responding correctly:

  • If I try to edit the time entry description while the timer is running, the changes are not saved.
  • If I try to stop the timer, nothing happens.
  • Only a manual page refresh makes it work again (then I can stop the timer and edit it).

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Log in to Toggl Track web app.
  2. Start a timer for any task.
  3. Let it run for a while.
  4. Try to change the description of the running entry.
  5. Try to stop the timer.

Expected:

  • I can edit the description and stop the timer at any time without refreshing the page.

Actual:

  • After some time, editing and stopping the timer do nothing until I refresh the page.

Has anyone experienced something similar recently? Any ideas if this is a known bug or if there is a workaround (e.g. related to browser extensions, caching, etc.)?

Thanks in advance for any help!
