Please oh please create a server-side backstop for when users accidentally delete a project incorrectly. I was SO SURE I had the right one, but now it’s gone, and that’s 6mos of time entries just gone. I know there’s the archive option, but I was SO SURE, I didn’t archive. And the project I meant to delete had 0 hours so I didn’t save the entries either. So it’s all vanished like it never happened. I know, I know, archive. I’m just begging bc people are human. Le sigh.
Hi @diametrica I totally get your pain here That said, while inconvenient, deleting a project will not delete the time entries associated with it, they just lose the association and you can still find them in reports using the “without project” filter. I am aware that it will not be easy to identify all of these entries and reallocate them to a project, but if you have any previous exports you can use that as a reference.
I’ll share your suggestion with the team!
Oh that would have been nice, except that I was so so so sure I was deleting the right one that I told it to delete them as well.
Maybe if you can’t have a trash/backup could you make it so that the alert that pops up asking what to do with entries (just take the association off, or delete them) ONLY pops up when there are truly entries associated with that label? Or it says something like WARNING YOU STILL HAVE ENTRIES ATTACHED TO THIS PROJECT! That way you KNOW you’re potentially about to mess up instead of just seeing the pop-up question, knowing/seeing that the one you mean to delete has 0 hours associated, and saying Nah I’m good and deleting the entries too.
Sharing all this with the relevant members of our team. Thanks so much for bringing this up and sharing the context behind how you can easily make a mistake here.
