Bug: Unsetting the project does not work on Web

When an existing time entry has a project assigned already, you can’t un-set it. You can select “No project” from the dropdown, but it resets after clicking “Save”.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Open Toggl Track on the Web
  • Create a new time entry in the past (I tried it in the Week view)
  • Set a project for the time entry and save
  • Click the time entry again and select “No project”
  • Click Save

Expected behavior: The time entry has no project.

Actual behavior: The time entry keeps its project.

Thanks for reporting this issue. It sounds like you’re encountering a bug where removing a project from an existing time entry doesn’t stick after saving. The project assignment reverts instead of being cleared.

This is definitely not the expected behavior. When you select “No project” from the dropdown and save a time entry, it should remove the project assignment permanently.

I’ll make sure the product team is aware of this issue so they can investigate and fix it. In the meantime, if you need a workaround, you could try creating a new time entry without a project rather than editing an existing one, though I understand that’s not ideal if you need to modify an entry that’s already been created.
