Please note, a Project will not be archived or deleted on its end date. However, a recurring project will stop creating more recurrences on the end date.

I might be missing a setting in Toggl, but I run into the following. I have a project that has ended (as in, beyond the indicated end date) but Toggl keeps showing it in the suggestion list when I start trecking time, and even allows me to still track time on it. Which I think it shouldn’t. When I ‘archive’ the project, it no longer lists or enables tracking (behaviour I want) BUT I’m not ready to archive the project yet, since I need still be able to report on it. So am I missing a setting or can I issue a feature request? Pretty please?
Yep, I set an end date (Jan 31st), expecting Toggl to not suggest the project any longer when starting tracking time. I also expected Toggle disabling any time tracking beyond the project end. But there’s no difference in ‘active’ and ‘ended’ projects in that behaviour.
It should be the same for project with a start date: they should neither show up in the start tracking dialog nor allow time entries for that project before the start date.
From the support pages I understand that the main function of end date is stopping recurring time entries.
I would very much like to have this feature (no project suggestion/no project time entries before start and after end) as I have clients for which I do multiple projects. It would make my life easier knowing that I can’t f** up when quickly starting tracking time.
They just reject my invoices when my time entries are booked on the wrong project.
So I would applaud this feature! Thanks, best, Maarten
You’re absolutely right - the project start and end dates currently only affect recurring projects, not time entry tracking.
Thanks so much for taking the time to explain your use case in detail - it’s really helpful context. I’ve passed this feature request along to our product team.
In the meantime, archiving the project would stop it being suggested to you on the timer page whilst still keeping all the historical data visible in reporting. However, I understand you might want to keep it active for a bit longer before archiving.
