The dynamic island on iPhone shows the timer if the timer is started from the Toggl Track app, but not if the timer is started from an iOS shortcut or from the PC app.
Is it possible to always show the timer in the dynamic island? Or at least set up the dynamic island when the user opens the iOS app while a timer is running?
+1 It would be a great feature if the toggl track Live Activity would be started on every entry trigger.
My use case: I have a shortcut on my lock-screen that starts the last entry. While the entry is started, the live activity doesn’t pop up on the lock screen. If this feature would be implemented, I could start and stop the entry from the lock screen without accessing the app.
Thank you for reporting this. I’m one of the developers working on the iOS and macOS apps. Yes, there are some cases when the Live Activity does not show up, such as when the entry is started from the PC app - to start the Live Activity, Toggl Track iOS app needs to be open. Unfortunately there is no way for us to start a Live Activity with the iOS app in the background.
However, Live Activity not starting after running a shortcut (i’m assuming a shortcut that’s created from the Shortcuts app) does sound like a bug, or at least something that should be doable. I wrote this down in our issue tracker.
Or at least set up the dynamic island when the user opens the iOS app while a timer is running?
The Live Activity should also start if you start an entry on another client (webapp, desktop app) and then open the iOS app and wait for it to sync. If Live Activity doesn’t start in this case, then that’s a bug.
