So, I will start off by saying I am new to Toggl; I came from using Clockify. While there are some things I really like about Toggl, some of the things I wish they would improve/allow include:
- Ability to set a default Bill To and Pay To address by project or by client that gets auto-populated into the invoice. Having to manually enter this each time is just annoying and makes no sense.
- Ability to define the invoice ID naming convention by project or by client. I am finding I have to go back to previously generated invoices to ensure I don’t enter an invoice number that I have already used for the client. In Clockify, I would define the starting Invoice Number nomenclature, and each time I generate an invoice, it counts up from that number automatically.
- Ability to set a default custom note/payment terms; for example, I always enter “Payment is due net 30 days from the date of invoice. Early payment is always appreciated but not required.” I shouldn’t have to type something that will be standard on an invoice each time I create an invoice. Of course always keep the option to add custom details as needed but allow defaults to exist as well.
I know none of these platforms are perfect, and they do ultimately save more time than not, but I think there is no reason not to at least check the boxes on certain functionalities, especially if they are inherent in competitor offerings.
