The Firefox Toggl extension is constantly logging me out

Hi,

I’m having trouble staying logged in to the Toggl extension on Firefox.

My Toggl extension button is displaying a red “X” indicating I’m logged out, but when I click on it and try to log in it doesn’t do anything. With some more fiddling around I can briefly log in, but as soon as I do anything I get logged out again.

What I’ve tried:

  1. Navigate to extension settings at moz-extension://777f7a5e-4da6-4168-a75c-26da2f79c441/settings.html#/account. This page shows me I’m "Currently logged in as ", with no name.

  2. Clicked “Log out” (following instructions in Toggl Track Browser Extension | Toggl Knowledge Base ). This doesn’t appear to do anything, but there is a browser console error:

Uncaught (in promise) Error: unauthorized 3 undefined
        handleLogoutClick moz-extension://777f7a5e-4da6-4168-a75c-26da2f79c441/settings.js:37
        InterpretGeneratorResume self-hosted:1312
        AsyncFunctionThrow self-hosted:784
        (Async: async)
        handleClick moz-extension://777f7a5e-4da6-4168-a75c-26da2f79c441/assets/client.js:1961
        Nb moz-extension://777f7a5e-4da6-4168-a75c-26da2f79c441/assets/client.js:870

    ...

  3. Clicked on the Toggl extension icon in the browser toolbar, and selected “Log in” from the box that pops up. That opens Login | Toggl Track .

  4. Selected to log in with Google

  5. Selected my work Gmail account that I usually use with Toggl. This takes me to a page that says “Redirecting to Toggl Track Extension”:

  6. After waiting for a bit, the page did not redirect automatically, so I clicked “Click here”. This opens the extension page moz-extension://777f7a5e-4da6-4168-a75c-26da2f79c441/settings.html#/integrations

  7. At this point I am briefly logged in (the “My account” section says “You’re currently logged in as ”, and the extension appears to work). But as soon as I try to use the extension in another tab, it logs me out again.

I have also tried the “Reset all settings to default” button at the bottom of the General tab. Again, this briefly lets me log in but I quickly find myself logged out again.

I’m using the Toggl extension “Toggl Track: Productivity & Time Tracker”, version 4.11.18, last updated 6 August 2026. (I have seen popups advertising Toggl 2.0 but I believe I’m still on the old version with this extension - as far as I’m aware I have no pressing reason to upgrade.)

Any suggestions on what could be causing this, or how I might fix it?

For now I am able to use the extension normally in Chrome, but I’m worried that that might break as well.

This is a similar issue to Bugreport: Toggl Android app: Cannot login if the default browser is FireFox, but I don’t believe it’s the same bug. That thread is from July last year, but Toggl in Firefox on desktop was working normally for me until yesterday.

It looks like it’s not just the extension that’s getting logged out. It’s actually logging me out of the toggl.com website as well.

What I’m seeing:

  1. If I log in to Toggl Track normally (via the web browser)
  2. The Toggl browser toolbar icon then turns purple (showing the extension is logged in)
  3. Click the toolbar icon to open the extension, and click through the Toggl 2.0 messages, but close out without actually installing Toggl 2.0.
  4. The track.toggl.com page reloads and logs me out. It also seems to be losing some cookies, as I get the “Toggl uses cookies” GDPR cookie pop-up again at this point even though I’ve already made a selection on it.

I was expecting to stay logged in in this situation.

I’ve just noticed there’s a support email listed in the Mozilla extension page, so I’ve emailed you through there.

Hi! I’m really sorry. We rolled back the new version for Firefox. Can you uninstall and reinstall the extension, it will take you back to 4.11.7

This has fixed it for me now, thank you!

After uninstalling and reinstalling I’m now opn version 4.11.19, which is working normally again.

In response to a question from Toggl Support by email: I am on Firefox 153.0.1 (64-bit), Mozilla Firefox Snap for Ubuntu, “canonical-002 - 1.0”.
