I know what i am doing and know what timer i am running. toggl has started stopping my timer, without my permission and suggests other random timers that have nothing to do with anything. i pay money to toggl, but i am done i will let this subscription lapse and never give them another cent. the chrome extension no longer works, timers are randomly stopped. what is the point of this software any more?
I understand how frustrating it would be to have your timer stopped unexpectedly. I’d like to help troubleshoot what’s happening.
A few things that might help:
First, check if you have Auto Tracker enabled. Auto Tracker can make suggestions based on your activity, but it shouldn’t be stopping your active timer without your action. If you’re seeing unexpected suggestions, you may want to review your Auto Tracker settings to see if adjustments would help.
Regarding the timer stopping at set intervals - if this started recently without you changing settings, it could be related to a recent update. Try these steps:
- Make sure you’re running the latest version of the Chrome extension and Toggl Track
- Try clearing your browser cache or reinstalling the extension
- Check if there are any timer-related settings that may have changed
If the issue persists after checking these things, there may be a bug that needs investigation. The timing of when this started and which specific app version you’re using (desktop, web, or extension) would be helpful details to gather.
Is the timer stopping happening on the web version, the Chrome extension, or both? And do you remember approximately when this behavior started?
Greetings,
It started march 12, 2026. i thought it was just a glitch until i realized it was broken
Chrome version: Version 146.0.7680.154 (Official Build) (arm64)
Chrome updates about every 2 days
Toggl extension: Version 4.11.10
I can highlight a task and right click and choose **“**start timer with “whatever” and that starts a timer, the little button icon inline with the task no longer works, so there is some level of communication
Heya! Just verifying: have you checked to see if you have AutoTracker turned on (as mentioned in our past post)?
I think it was something to do with the Pomodoro timer you have in the focus area. Somehow that got stuck on, and therefore it wanted me to stop and take breaks and things like that. I turned it all off, and it seems to be okay now. I turned off all the Pomodoro stuff in every little area, and it seems to be working now. I thank you very much for your reply.
Perfect!
Have a lovely day and let us know if we can help with anything else ![]()
