Toggl is a mobile app for iOS and Android designed to help you track time and plan your workday while on the move. It syncs with your Toggl Focus web account, allowing you to seamlessly switch between tracking time and managing tasks on your phone or web. With quick-access time tracking, task management, and calendar integration, Toggl helps you stay focused and organized wherever work takes you.

It is a companion app hence more complex actions like Team timeline views or detailed reporting tools are accessible via the Toggl Focus Web App.
Signing up and Logging in
On opening the app for the first time, you will be prompted to create a new account. If you already have a Toggl account on any Toggl platform, you can opt to log in using the same credentials. If you forgot the password, use the password reset page to regain access to your account.
You can also sign up or log in using Google, Apple, Passkey, or SSO. If you have an existing Toggl account but can’t sign in with one of these methods, please check whether the sign-in option is enabled by opening the Profile page in the Web App.
Understanding the Toggl Focus Mobile App
The Toggl Focus mobile app has four main areas:
- Floating controls
- Today
- Tasks
- Calendar
The navigation bar at the bottom allows you to move between the Today, Tasks and Calendar tabs.
Task Modal Editor
The Task editor is organized into sections that make it easy to add the details you need.
Every field is optional. You decide what’s important and when to add it. Here, you are able to add descriptions for each task, sub tasks, estimates for how long your task should take and also to see all the time you have logged against a particular task.
Floating Play & Task Creation buttons
On all tabs throughout the app, you will see a floating “Play” and “+” buttons. Tapping the “Play” button allows you to start logging your time with a running timer, while pressing the “+” button allows you to quickly create a task for you to prioritise later.
You will be able to access both these buttons on all tabs across the app for easier access to tracking your time and planning your tasks.

Today Tab
The Today tab has 5 main features.
- Today’s focus
- Events
- Logged Time
- Blocked Time
- Settings
Today’s focus
Today’s focus shows you what Tasks you have planned for the current day. Here, you are able to create tasks that you would like to work on Today, track time against said task and see how much time you have tracked towards each task (Logged Time).

You are also able to add tasks to this section through the Task Tab by pressing the Star to the right of the modal.
Finished working on your task? simply tick the checkbox and its status will be updated to Done.

No longer want to focus on a particular task today? Simply swipe the task to the left and tap Remove.

Want to make changes to a particular task? Simply tap on it and the Task editor will appear.
Events
Your calendar events will appear here. You are also able to track actual time of your meeting / event by simple pressing the play and stop button.
Finished with your meeting? Simply tick the checkbox and its status will be updated to Done.
Logged Time & Blocked Time
Logged time enables you to see the total amount of time you have tracked today while Blocked time shows the total time you have scheduled your tasks for today. Use these two together to see how much time you actually tracked against your total planned time.
Settings
As with any app, your settings will allow you to set your preferences for the app. To access your settings, go to “Today” and on the top right of the screen and tap on where you see the initial of your name.
Task Tab
Task Search
To search for a particular task, tap on the magnifying glass icon and simply type the name of your task.

Task Groups
Keep your tasks organized your way. Group them by Due date, Priority, or Status whatever helps you stay on top of things. Tasks are grouped by Due date by default, and you’ll always see how many tasks are in each group.
To change the way your tasks are grouped, tap on the Group button
Filter by Task
Got too many tasks on your list? Filters help you find what matters faster. You can filter by Project, Priority, or Status to see only the tasks that are relevant right now.
Calendar Tab
The calendar shows existing Logged time entries, calendar events and blocked time. Logged time entries appear in the left column while both Calendar entries & user blocked time appear in the right column.
To enable easier identification of Calendar entries, you will be able to see the “G” or Calendar icon (depending on your calendar provider) on the top right of the entry.
Tap on an existing entry to reveal an action menu that allows you to delete, edit, duplicate or being logging time on the selected entry.
