Timer stuck running for over 72h in a downgraded corporate workspace, blocking my personal workspace

Post Title: Cannot stop a running timer after a corporate workspace was downgraded, blocking access to my personal workspace.

Your Question/Topic: Hi Toggl Community :man_raising_hand:

I really want to continue using Toggl, but I’m completely stuck due to a technical issue.

I was previously connected to a paid corporate workspace. Recently, this corporate account was downgraded to a Free subscription, which I was unaware of. The next time I started a timer in that corporate workspace, it launched but now it refuses to stop. It has been running continuously for over 72 hours. Unfortunately, I have no way to contact the workspace administrator to fix this from their end.

Because this timer is stuck running in the background, it completely breaks my ability to use my own personal workspace. Specifically:

  • I cannot switch properly to my personal workspace.

  • When I try to start a new timer in my personal workspace, the stuck timer from the corporate one prevents it.

  • I constantly receive UI errors.

  • I cannot set my personal workspace as the default.

  • Essentially, all functionality is blocked.

My questions:

  1. How can I force-stop this timer that is running endlessly in the corporate workspace?

  2. How can I regain full access and functionality in my personal workspace?

Any help or advice on how to force-quit this timer would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

I understand how frustrating this situation must be. Unfortunately, based on the available resources, this appears to be an edge case issue that goes beyond standard timer controls. The knowledge base doesn’t include guidance for force-stopping a timer that’s stuck in a downgraded workspace or for resolving workspace access conflicts of this nature.

Here are a couple of things you could try:

First, you might attempt to stop the timer directly by accessing the corporate workspace where it’s running. If you still have any access to that workspace, look for the running timer and try to stop it from there. Once that timer is stopped, it should clear the block on your personal workspace.

If you don’t have access to the corporate workspace or can’t stop the timer that way, you could also try signing out completely from Toggl and signing back in, though there’s no guarantee this will resolve a stuck timer state.

Since this is a technical issue that standard troubleshooting steps may not resolve, and it’s preventing you from using your account at all, this would be best handled by someone who can investigate the workspace state directly and potentially reset things on the backend.
